ext3birra - an useless ext3 partition file recover
|
INSTALLATION
|
tar xjvf ext3birra-x.x.x.tar.bz2
cd ext3birra
./configure
make && make install
|
USAGE
|
sync (useful for write unwritten blocks and syncronize superblock)
ext3birra [device] [output diretory]
|
EXAMPLE
|
sync
ext3birra /dev/sda5 /media/disk/recover/
|
NOTES
|
- program was written in 5 days starting from a ZERO ext3 knowledge,
probably is full of crap.
- please be careful choosing output dir. The best would be a
directory on another (virtual) device, because your lost data
could be overwritten by output files
- ext3birra can recover ONLY recently deleted file... even 1 day later,
could be "too much"
- ext3birra CANNOT recover files in directories deleted too (i expect someone
would give me an advice to recover deleter directories content... since
i didn't find any info in journal)
|
TIPS
|
- in italian.. "birra = beer"
- check for latest update on www.dbtecno.it/ext3birra/
|
PROBLEMS
|
- If configure gives error messages, ensure you got a minimal environment
for compiling...
Example: Ubuntu users could use the command sudo apt-get install build-essential
- If you couldn't find trash can/recycle bin content... try to check in
[output dir]/$HOMEDIR/.local/share/Trash/files/
example. /media/disk/rescue/home/dvdn/.local/share/Trash/files/
